For nation's defence, a good intelligence system is required: PM Narendra Modi

Guwahati, Nov 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the high-level security annual DGP/IGPs conference in Guwahati, Assam on Sunday, Nov 30 morning.

While unveiling the anti-terror policy, PM Modi said, "More than weapons, the potential lies with the one who carries it."

"Good intelligence system is key to effective internal security", he said.

While stressing over the sacrifices of police personnel, PM said, "33,000 police personnel sacrificing themselves for nation is not small, their sacrifices must not go in vain."

"For nation's defence, a good intelligence system is required", he said.

While paying his gratitude to all the police officers who are serving our nation, Modi said, "After independence many police officers sacrificed their lives for the nation, and this sacrifice must not go in vain."

"The effort of coming out with an e-book in the states on the martyrs of the police force can inspire a lot of people", he said.

"Police should be SMART", said PM Narendra Modi at DGPs/IGs annual conference.

On Police welfare, PM said, "An officer may be very good but it's important that his/her family is well."

In his signature style, Modi said that the Police should be SMART.

"S-Sensitive & Strict, M-Modern & Mobile, A-Alert & Accountable, R-Responsive & Reliable, T-Techno savvy & Trained", he said.

On the Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Modi said, "The Home Minister has been successful Chief Minister of a big state and his guidance will be beneficial for us."

Earlier in the morning, Modi had visited the famous Kamakhya temple in Guwahati.
