Follow Haryana's example in giving corruption-free govt: Amit Shah
Gohana (Har), Apr 23: Hailing the amendment to the Panchyati Raj Act by the Haryana government, BJP Chief Amit Shah today said it would prove to be a milestone in ensuring the development of villages.
Shah was addressing the "Haryana Swaran Jayanti Panchayat Sammelan" here which was attended by the representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) from about 6,907 villages in the state.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayti Raj Birender Singh and Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishan Pal Gurjar, were among those who addressed the function here.
Shah urged the representatives of the PRIs to help the state government in making all villages as 'Gokul Gaon' and realise the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Shah launched a scathing attack on previous Chief Ministers including Congress' Bhupinder Singh Hooda and INLD President Om Prakash Chautala.
He alleged that in the last 20 years, both Hooda and Chautala were involved in rampant corruption in their respective tenures.
"But Manohar Lal has, during the last one-and-a-half years, given a fair and corruption free government to the State," Shah said.
He said that till now only two families were ruling the state but this time, people of Haryana (during 2014 assembly polls) showed faith in the BJP and gave a clear mandate to form the government in the state.
He also appreciated the Haryana government for the successfully organising 'Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday' campaign which is the brainchild of Prime Minister Modi.
He said that the campaign which started on the birth anniversary of Bhim Rao Ambedkar on April 14 would conclude on Panchayti Raj Diwas on April 24.
While hailing the amendment of Panchyati Raj Act by the state government for introducing educational qualification for those contesting the elections to Panchayati Raj Institutions, Shah said that implementation of this Act would prove to be a milestone in ensuring the development of villages.
He said that the new provision in the Act has given an opportunity to the women and people belonging to backward classes to come into the main stream.
