Fengal Cyclone Live Tracking: Know Current Location, Speed, Path, Landfall And Latest News Updates
Cyclone Fengal Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the development of a deep depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean within 24 hours. This system is likely to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to Chennai and Puducherry between November 25 and 27.
Wind speeds could reach 65 km/h, with gusts up to 75 km/h, particularly on November 25 and 26. The IMD noted that the well-marked low-pressure area over the region has been moving west-northwest and is expected to intensify into a deep depression soon.

On November 24, the storm named Cyclone Fenjal by Saudi Arabia was reported by the IMD to have a low-pressure system currently generating maximum sustained winds of 10-15 knots, with gusts reaching up to 20 knots. Sea conditions are predicted to remain moderate to rough over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean. The IMD also highlighted the presence of strong westerly wind anomalies over the southern Bay of Bengal and easterly wind anomalies further north, spanning the southern and central Bay of Bengal, from November 24 to 30. Residents are urged to stay updated on weather advisories and take necessary precautions for their safety as the system progresses.
Typically, November storms in the Bay of Bengal head towards northern Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal, but Fenjal is predicted to make landfall in northern Sri Lanka between November 26 and 27.
This shift in the storm's trajectory has drawn attention, highlighting the unusual nature of this upcoming cyclone. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cautionary note, stating that these forecasts are preliminary, and the storm's final path and intensity may change as the system develops. Continuous monitoring over the next few days will be crucial in determining the cyclone's exact path and impact.
For those in Sri Lanka and parts of India, including the southeastern coast, this weather event could pose significant risks, depending on the storm's development. The IMD is closely watching the situation and will continue to provide updates, which are vital for residents and authorities to prepare for any potential impact.
The storm's progression will be closely tracked, with the IMD offering important guidance for safety and precautionary measures. Cyclone Feenjal's unexpected path may bring challenges to the region, but timely forecasts will help mitigate the risks posed by this developing storm.
