Farmer Outfits Rally Behind CISF Constable After Kangana Ranaut Altercation

Prominent farmer outfits, including the Samyukta Kisan Morcha Non-Political and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, have expressed their support for the CISF woman constable who allegedly slapped actor and BJP MP-elect Kangana Ranaut. These outfits are calling for a thorough investigation into the incident. Constable Kulwinder Kaur, who is accused of hitting Ranaut and verbally abusing her during a security check at the Chandigarh airport, has been suspended and an FIR has been filed against her. The CISF has also initiated a court of inquiry into the matter. The Mohali Police has registered a case against Kaur under IPC sections 323 and 341, which are bailable offenses. No arrests have been made yet, and the FIR was filed based on a complaint from the CISF.Ranaut, in a video message, claimed that she was hit in the face and verbally abused by the constable during the security check at the airport. The incident occurred just two days after she was elected to the Lok Sabha from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. Farmer leaders Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Sarwan Singh Pandher met with Punjab's Director General of Police to demand a fair investigation into the matter. Dallewal stated that they have been assured that the investigation will be conducted impartially. The Mohali Police is currently investigating the incident, with CISF officials providing them with information about what transpired. CCTV footage is being reviewed to determine the next course of action. Dallewal announced that an Insaaf march will be held in Mohali on June 9 to demand justice for the constable.Ranaut's video statement, titled "Shocking rise in terror and violence in Punjab," was posted on social media after she arrived in Delhi following the incident. In the video, she expressed her concern about increasing terrorism and extremism in Punjab. Another video circulating on social media shows the constable speaking to people after the incident. She claims that Ranaut had made derogatory remarks about farmers, which led to the argument.Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar called the incident unfortunate and condemned any form of violence as a means of expressing dissent. He also expressed concern that a person in a security uniform engaged in such an unlawful act. Dallewal and Pandher revealed that the constable's brother is involved in farmer movements and is part of their organization.Sher Singh Mahiwal, the constable's brother, stated that she has been in service for 15 years and has served in various locations across India. He explained that an argument broke out when Kaur asked Ranaut to put her purse and mobile phone through the scanner during the security check. Mahiwal demanded video evidence of the alleged slap and accused Ranaut of using provocative language, including using the word "Khalistani."Dallewal and Pandher criticized Ranaut for her remarks about terrorism and extremism in Punjab. They called for legal action against her and urged the courts to take note of her statements. They emphasized that all communities in Punjab coexist peacefully and that Ranaut, as an actor and MP, should not use such language. The farmer leaders also claimed that the BJP had been taught a lesson in the recent Lok Sabha elections, with many of their candidates losing in rural areas. They alleged that tear gas and bullets were used against farmers during their protests, leading to public anger being expressed through the ballot. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, with both sides presenting their perspectives. It remains to be seen how this situation will be resolved and what actions will be taken against those involved.
