Following the tragic death of a 25-year-old delivery executive in a road accident in west Delhi, his family and friends gathered outside the Tilak Nagar police station on Sunday. They demanded justice and strict action against the driver involved. The protesters claimed that the accused had been granted bail due to the case being registered under bailable sections.

Hem Shankar, who lived in Raghubir Nagar, lost his life early Saturday when a car allegedly hit his electric scooter from behind near Subhash Nagar Metro station on Najafgarh-Rajouri Garden Road. The police were alerted about the incident around 3.30 am and discovered both vehicles at the location. Hem, employed by a quick e-commerce platform and the sole provider for his family, was pronounced dead at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital.

Protesters Demand Justice

The demonstrators threatened to block roads and disrupt traffic if their demands were not addressed. In response, a significant police presence was stationed outside the police station to maintain order. The accused driver, Mohit Kumar, aged 27 and residing in Najafgarh, works as an MCD contractor. He was detained at the accident scene, and his vehicle was confiscated.

Senior officers have stated that the investigation into the incident is ongoing. The community's call for justice highlights concerns over road safety and accountability in such accidents. The case has drawn attention to the legal processes involved when accidents occur under bailable sections.
