Fake voter ID: FIR filed against Congress MLA Muniratna
The Election Commission has filed an FIR against the Rajarajeshwari Urban Congress candidate Muniratna Naidu in connection with the recovery of fake voter identity cards at a home in Jalhahalli. In a complaint lodged at the Jahahalli police station for violating Election Code of Conduct Muniratna has been named as 11th accused.
The FIR is based on the complaint filed by Rakesh, resident of Jahahalli.
In the complaint filed Rakesh said he went to Flat No. 115 at the SLV Parkview apartment after suspecting activities. He alleged that four women and two men were caught with fake identification cards and other devices. Sunanda, Mohan, Kiran, Venkatesh, Manjunath, Raghu and others have been booked in the case. Police has arrested Venkatesh and Raghu.
Early this week, Election Commission filed an FIR against Munirathna for trying to distribute freebies worth Rs 90 lakh. Film producer-turned-politician Munirathna is Congress candidate from Bengaluru's Rajarajeshwarinagar constituency. Munirathna and five others have been named as accused in the FIR. Freebies comprise 5018 t-shirts with Munirathna's photo and 23,393 half pants of different colours.
