Exit Polls Predict Hung Assembly In Mizoram With MNF And ZPM Leading
Exit polls conducted in Mizoram ahead of the 2023 Assembly elections have predicted a close race between the ruling Mizoram National Front (MNF) and the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM). The polls also suggest that the Indian National Congress (Congress) could lose its grip on power, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) making marginal gains.

According to the Jan Ki Baat exit poll, the MNF is expected to win 10-14 seats, while the ZPM is projected to secure 15-25 seats. The Congress is predicted to win 5-9 seats, while the BJP is expected to win 0-2 seats.
Similarly, the India TV-CNX exit poll predicts the MNF to win 14-18 seats, the ZPM to win 12-16 seats, the Congress to win 8-10 seats, and the BJP to win 0-2 seats.
The exit polls conducted by Peoples Pulse survey predicted the MNF to win 16-20 seats, the ZPM to win 10-14 seats, the Congress to win 6-10 seats, and the BJP to win 2-3 seats.

The MNF, the incumbent party, is banking on its development record and the popularity of Chief Minister Zoramthanga. The ZPM, a relatively new party, is gaining support due to its focus on tribal issues and its strong presence in rural areas.
The Congress, which has been in power in Mizoram since 2018, is facing anti-incumbency and internal divisions. The party is expected to lose some of its seats, but it is still likely to remain the third-largest party in the Assembly.
The BJP, which has never won a seat in the Mizoram Assembly, is expected to make marginal gains in the upcoming elections.
The final outcome of the Mizoram Assembly elections will be known on December 3, when the results are officially declared. However, the exit polls have given an early indication of the trends that are likely to play out in the state.
2018 Exit Polls
In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, exit polls had predicted a tough fight between the MNF and the Congress. The CVoter-Republic TV exit poll said the Congress would win the polls with 16-20 seats, with MNF winning 14-18 seats. The CNX-Times exit poll had also predicted a Congress victory, giving the party 18 seats to the MNF's 16.
However, the MNF defied exit poll predictions and secured a landslide victory, winning 26 seats. The Congress was relegated to the opposition with just 5 seats, while the ZPM won 8 seats.
