Exit Polls For Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana Assembly Polls Banned Between Sept 18 To Oct 5: Election Commission
With only a couple of weeks to go for first phase of polling for Jammu and Kashmir, and Haryana Assembly Elections 2024, the Election Commission of India has put a ban on release of exit polls. The poll conducting body has directed all media house, poll survey agencies and independent journalists not to publish or public any data related to assembly elections between September 18 to October 5, 2024.
A notification shared by the Election Commission of India reads: "In exercise of the powers under sub-Section (1) of Section 126A of the RP Act, 1951, the Election Commission, having regard to the provisions of Sub-Section (2) of the said Section, hereby notifies the period between 7.00 AM on 18.09.2024 (Wednesday) and 6.30 PM on 05.10.2024 (Saturday), as the period during which conducting and publishing or publicising exit poll by means of the print or electronic media or dissemination in any other manner whatsoever, the result of any exit poll in connection with the aforesaid general election, shall be prohibited."

Though, banning exit poll data is not a new thing, still EC shared the notification to maintain the sanity of crucial state elections.
Polling for Jammu and Kashmir's 90 assembly seats will be held in three phases, i.e. September 18, September 25 and October 1.
While elections for Haryana's 90 seats will be conducted in a single phase on October 5.
The results of Jammu and Kashmir, and Haryana assembly elections will be announced on October 8.
