DU student kills girlfriend in anger, dumps body in park
New Delhi, Jan 20: A fit of rage turned this DU student into a monster as he killed his girlfriend and dumped her body in the park. The Delhi Police arrested Rohtas from Ramour of Uttar Pradesh on Friday for murdering his girlfriend. He then dumped her body at the Lajwanti garden area in West Delhi.
Rohtas is currently pursuing graduation from Delhi University and was angry with his 20-year old girlfriend for ignoring him. Initial investigations suggested that he lured the girl to his house in Vijay Enclave on the pretext of going to a movie, but strangulated her to death.
Fearing arrest, he then dumped the body in a bag in a park, 10 kilometers away from home. The body was folded and tied with the help of a dupatta. While ligature marks were found on the neck, no other evidence were found from the area.
Pushpendra Kumar, DCP (west), said,"We received information on January 12 about a dead body lying in a bag. The body was folded and tied with the help of a ‘chunni'. There were ligature marks on the neck and injury on the head. No other details were found from the area. A case of murder was registered at the Mayapuri police station."
The girl's parents said that she was missing since January 11. Police deciphered that she was in contact with Rohtas just before she went missing. Meanwhile, Rohtas fled to Rampur with his mother from where he was arrested on January 16.
During investigation, Rohtas said that he had befriended the girl on Facebook and had been in a relationship with her for the past one-and-half years. "They exchanged phone numbers and started dating," said a police official.
