Dry Days In Delhi 2023: Sale Of Liquor Banned On These 4 Days

The Delhi government has prohibited the sale of liquor in the Union Territory for four days in the month of August.

The liquor sale in Delhi is banned on Muharram (July 29), Independence Day (August 15), Janmashtami (September 7), and Eid-e-Milad (September 28) during the ongoing quarter ending September 31.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approved a proposal of the excise department for a ban on liquor sale on said dates. The Delhi government declares dry days every three months.

During dry days in India, alcohol sales are prohibited, although consumption is allowed. These dry days are observed nationwide on significant national festivals and occasions, such as Republic Day (26 January), Independence Day (15 August), and Gandhi Jayanti (2 October). Yamuna's Water Level Below Danger Mark
The Yamuna river in Delhi flowed below the danger mark of 205.33 metres on Wednesday but is expected to rise again following heavy rain in parts of the capital and upper catchment areas in the morning.

According to the Central Water Commission (CWC), the water level at the Old Railway Bridge (ORB) stood at 205.09 metres at 9 am.

The Safdarjung Observatory, Delhi's primary weather station, recorded 37.1 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours that ended at 8:30 am, meteorological office data showed.
