DMK seeks no-confidence motion against Speaker Dhanapal
“We believe that the speaker acted with ulterior motives on Saturday,” the DMK has said in its letter
Taking its fight over Saturday's vote of confidence forward, the DMK has decided to move a no-confidence motion against Tamil Nadu assembly Speaker P Dhanapal. The party submitted a request letter to the assembly secretary on the same and a copy was sent to the speaker himself on Tuesday.
The DMK raised suspicion over the manner in which the speaker conducted proceedings of the house when Chief Minister Palanisamy moved the vote of confidence motion on February 18. M K Stalin, speaking to the media said that a letter to move a no-confidence motion was submitted to assembly secretary AMP Jamaludeen.

"We believe that the speaker acted with ulterior motives on Saturday. We have already moved the Madras High Court to quash the assembly proceedings from Saturday when the motion of confidence was put to vote," M K Stalin said.
The DMK is also hoping to meet the President and appraise him of the political situation in Tamil Nadu after the Governor refused to intervene in the same. DMK's petition in the Madras high court will be heard on Wednesday.
