DMK-Congress Seal The Deal For Lok Sabha Elections 2024; Rahul Gandhi's Fraction Gets 9 Seats In Tamil Nadu
For the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and Congress finalized the seat-sharing formula for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Saturday. According to the reports, the deal was finalized after Chief Minister MK Stalin and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi agreed to repeat the 2019 formula. The grand old party will field its candidates on 9 out of 39 seats in Tamil Nadu. Congress will also contest Puducherry's lone seat, according to the reports.
It was made official after CM MK Stalin and Tamil Nadu Congress Committee chief K Selvaperunthagai finalized the seat sharing, in the presence of senior Congress leaders KC Venugopal and Ajoy Kumar.

After finalizing the deal, KC Venugopal said the INDIA Bloc will win all 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry asserting that the DMK and Congress' bonding "is strong and intact."
"We will fight together and win together," senior Congress leader added.
Earlier today, popular actor Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) joined hands with Tamil Nadu ruling DMK and agreed to support the INDIA bloc in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. MK Stalin has agreed to give and support Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) on one seat in the Rajya Sabha Elections 2025.
The reports suggested that Kamal Haasan and his party will campaign for the INDIA bloc on all 40 seats of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
For the unversed, the DMK leads a multi-party Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) in Tamil Nadu, which comprises CPI (M), CPI, IUML, KMDK, VCK and MDMK. The decision by DMK and Congress to join hands will surely strengthen the INDIA bloc in down south.
