DK Shivakumar bats for Congress CM post in Karnataka, A Day Before Result
After high-voltage political campaigns, bitter feuds, high profile defections and a record voter turnout, the state of Karnataka is set to elect its 16th Assembly on May 13. The Congress appears to be confident of a win in Karnataka. Exit polls have also showed that the party will bag 120 of the 224 assembly seats.
The party has been relying heavily on the pattern in which Karnataka votes, where the people have not elected the same party back into power.

While scales seem to be tilted in favour of the party as of now, KPCC chief DK Shivakumar once again made an indirect claim to the top post and said that he deserves to be the one to fill the CM post as he has toiled hard for the party.

"See I've worked hard. Dinesh Gundu Rao resigned voluntarily as KPCC chief saying he couldn't handle party affairs in the state. Siddaramaiah said he would resign as KPCC chief after by-elections and he did so, after this I was given the responsibility and Sonia Gandhi made me the KPCC chief. From then on, I haven't slept and have not let others sleep as well.
I've done what needs to be done for the party and every one will assist and bless us, be it seniors or juniors. A better government will be formed by the congress government," said DK Shivakumar.
Meanwhile, it must be noted that JD(S), which is hoping to play a pivotal role in forming the government, is determined to bargain hard for the CM post with H D Kumaraswamy being projected as its fate.
