Divorce Granted To Shaju Zacharias From Jolly Joseph, Main Suspect In Koodathayi Serial Murder Case

The Family Court in Kozhikode has granted Shaju Zacharias a divorce from Jolly Joseph, the main suspect in the Koodathayi serial murder case. Jolly is accused of killing six members of the Ponnamattom family by allegedly poisoning them with cyanide-laced food. The court approved the divorce petition as it was uncontested.

Shaju married Jolly in 2017 and filed for divorce in 2021, citing cruelty. He claimed that Jolly manipulated him into making false statements, misleading investigators, and endangering his life. The petition highlighted these concerns as grounds for the divorce.

Accusations Against Jolly Joseph

Jolly's arrest in October 2019 followed accusations of murdering her first husband, Roy Thomas, along with Shaju's wife Sily, his daughter Alphine, Roy's parents Tom and Annamma Thomas, and Annamma's brother Mathew Manjadiyil. These alleged murders spanned 14 years.

Shaju's petition detailed how Jolly used manipulative tactics to involve him in the case. He alleged that she coerced him into providing false information to authorities, which misled the investigation process.

The court's decision to grant the divorce was based on Shaju's uncontested petition. This legal move marks a significant development in the ongoing case surrounding Jolly Joseph and her alleged crimes.
