Delhi's Aurangzeb Road may be renamed as APJ Abdul Kalam Marg

New Delhi, July 30: As India's former president and the "missile man" Dr APJ Abdul Kalam bid farewell to the world on Monday, July 27 at IIM-Shillong, many states decided to name educational institutions after his name, as a token of love and tribute.

To keep alive the memories of the "people's president", there has been an online clamour to rename national capital Delhi's posh Aurengzeb Road as APJ Abdul Kalam Marg. [Live Updates: Dr APJ Abdul Kalam laid to rest]

On Wednesday, July 29, campaigners were sending messages on social networks such as Twitter and WhatsApp.

Change.Org has also started a petition saying, "Please rename Aurangzeb road of Delhi to Dr. Abdul Kalam road."

However, a section of society feels that such a move can polarise communities.

Demands have also been going on to rename Aurengzeb Road as Guru Gobind Singh Road.
