Delhi Elections: Kharge Labels AAP and BJP as 'Jhoothon ke Sardar' in Campaign Speech
During a campaign event for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections on February 5, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticised both the BJP and AAP. He labelled them as "Jhoothon ke Sardar," or chieftains of liars, accusing them of neglecting public welfare in Delhi. Kharge urged voters to support Congress, claiming the BJP and AAP only make false promises.

Kharge alleged that the BJP and AAP conspired to remove Congress from power in Delhi. He questioned AAP's claims of integrity, pointing to corruption scandals. "AAP talks as if they have come from heaven. If all was well, why did you go to jail and why did you indulge in corruption and scams?" he asked.
Promises and Accusations
The Congress leader criticised AAP's governance, citing unfulfilled promises like clean drinking water. He highlighted the Yamuna river's condition as evidence of AAP's failures. Kharge accused both parties of being "Jhoothon ke Sardar," urging them to focus on helping people instead of engaging in drama.
Kharge reiterated that BJP and AAP previously joined forces against Congress and are doing so again. He claimed that neither party has brought development to Delhi. "But people of Delhi are wiser now as they have seen that no development took place either under BJP or AAP," he stated.
Unity and Development
Kharge emphasised the need for unity, contrasting Congress's Bharat Jodo Yatra with BJP and AAP's divisive tactics. He urged voters to choose leaders who unite rather than divide society. "Please vote for those who unite, and not those who divide," he said.
He assured voters that if Congress returns to power, Delhi will see infrastructure improvements similar to those during Sheila Dikshit's tenure. Kharge promised development in roads, bridges, industries, and housing.
Historical Contributions
The Congress chief criticised BJP's narrative on India's independence, attributing it to sacrifices by Congress leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru. He accused BJP and AAP of undermining these contributions. "The country got Independence due to the sacrifices made by Congress leaders," he asserted.
Kharge also highlighted issues like religious and caste-based violence, questioning BJP and AAP's silence on these matters. He criticised AAP's claims about building hospitals while ignoring slum conditions.
Economic Concerns
Kharge accused BJP of favouring billionaires like Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani at the expense of the poor. He claimed Modi is selling off assets built by Nehru, such as ports and airports. "There are 35 lakh vacancies in the country, but Modi is not filling them," he said.
The Congress leader criticised AAP for using icons like Babasaheb Ambedkar for votes without following their principles. He urged voters to reject those making false promises.
Congress Guarantees
Kharge highlighted Congress's achievements like food security and MGNREGA under Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh. He mentioned five guarantees implemented in Karnataka, Telangana, and Himachal Pradesh as examples of Congress's commitment.
He concluded by criticising BJP for ignoring issues like corruption in the Dwarka Expressway project. Kharge accused them of neglecting the middle class and poor while favouring the wealthy.
