Delhi Police Enforces MCOCA Against Gangster Hashim Baba for Organised Crime Involvement

Delhi Police have invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against jailed gangster Hashim Baba. He is suspected of involvement in the murder of a gym trainer in South Delhi. Officials revealed that Baba, whose real name is Ashim, and eight associates are accused of operating a crime syndicate involved in gang wars.

MCOCA Imposed on Gangster Hashim Baba

The MCOCA is a stringent law used to combat organised crime. Baba's gang was allegedly involved in a mistaken identity murder at GTB Hospital in East Delhi last July. Despite being imprisoned, Baba reportedly continues to manage his criminal operations from jail.

Gang Activities and Arrests

Two sharpshooters from Baba's gang were captured during a joint operation by Delhi and Uttar Pradesh Police. This encounter took place in Muzaffar Nagar on Thursday. Baba himself was apprehended by the Special Cell of Delhi Police in 2019 and had previously been charged under MCOCA.

Currently, Baba faces 17 criminal cases, including charges of murder, attempted murder, and dacoity. These incidents occurred in East Delhi's Jaffrabad, Bhajanpura, and Welcome areas. A police officer stated that these crimes were carried out by his gang members following his directives.

Alleged Jail Alliance

There are allegations that Hashim Baba has formed an alliance with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi while inside Tihar Jail. Bishnoi is accused of involvement in the murder of Punjabi singer-politician Sidhu Moosewala. This alleged partnership raises concerns about ongoing criminal activities orchestrated from within prison walls.

The police dossier highlights Baba's continued influence over his syndicate despite incarceration. His ability to maintain control over criminal operations poses significant challenges for law enforcement agencies striving to curb organised crime.

The invocation of MCOCA against Hashim Baba underscores the seriousness with which authorities are addressing organised crime networks. By targeting key figures like Baba, law enforcement aims to dismantle these syndicates and restore safety to affected communities.
