Delhi Police Enhances Inter-State Coordination for Security Ahead of Republic Day Celebrations
Delhi Police organised a meeting on Wednesday to enhance collaboration among law enforcement agencies. This gathering aimed to address security concerns ahead of Republic Day and the upcoming assembly elections, officials stated.

The meeting, led by Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, included senior police officers from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, and Jammu and Kashmir. They shared intelligence on various issues and agreed to bolster anti-terror measures such as border checks and verification of suspicious individuals.
Strengthening Security Measures
Arora urged the use of both human and technical intelligence to monitor suspicious activities. He emphasised the importance of anticipating potential threats to prevent any malicious plans. The need for advance information on suspicious movements or vehicles was highlighted during the discussions.
Discussions also covered inter-state gangs operating in the NCR and the illegal supply of firearms, liquor, cash, and narcotics. Coordination for traffic management during Republic Day celebrations was also planned, according to Special Commissioner of Police Crime Devesh Chandra Srivastava.
Election Security and Coordination
The meeting stressed strict adherence to the Election Commission of India's guidelines during the Delhi Assembly elections. A zero-tolerance policy towards violations was emphasised. Plans were made to increase policing efforts at state borders to ensure compliance with these guidelines.
The Republic Day celebrations are scheduled for January 26. Voting for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will occur in a single phase on February 5. The counting of votes is set for February 8.
