Delhi to Host Three-Day Ramlila Ahead of Ram Temple Consecration

Delhi will host a three-day Ramlila event from January 21 to 23, coinciding with the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. The event will feature live performances by the Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra and is free for all.

In preparation for the upcoming Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, the Delhi government has announced a three-day Ramlila event, starting from Saturday, January 21st. The announcement has sparked a political debate between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

AAP Claims Denied Permission for Bharat Mandapam

The AAP government alleges that the central government, led by the BJP, denied permission to hold the Ramlila at the Bharat Mandapam auditorium in Pragati Maidan. Delhi Minister of Art, Culture, and Language, Saurabh Bharadwaj, expressed deep disappointment over the decision, stating that the Delhi government had duly submitted an application to book the large auditorium.

BJP Cites Policy Against Religious Functions

In response to the AAP's claims, the Delhi BJP clarified that the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), which oversees the Bharat Mandapam, has a clear policy of not allotting the venue for religious functions. The party emphasized that this decision is based on policy rather than political considerations.

Ramlila Event Details

The three-day Ramlila event will take place at the Pearey Lal Auditorium near ITO from January 21st to 23rd. The Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra will present live three-hour Ramlila performances from 4 pm to 7 pm each day. The event is free and open to the public.

Conclusion of Ramlila to Coincide with Temple Consecration

The conclusion of the Ramlila event will coincide with the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Thousands of dignitaries, including political leaders, have been invited to the ceremony. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, however, has not received an invitation and plans to visit Ayodhya with his family after January 22nd.

The Delhi government's decision to organize the Ramlila event reflects its commitment to promoting cultural and religious traditions. Despite the political debate surrounding the venue, the event is expected to draw large crowds and provide an opportunity for people to celebrate the life and teachings of Lord Ram.
