Delhi Elections 2025: AAP Launches 'Revdi Par Charcha' Campaign, Promises Free Electricity, Education, Pension
Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has launched the 'Revdi Par Charcha' campaign. This initiative aims to connect with Delhi voters ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled for February next year. The campaign's name cleverly references the BJP's criticism of AAP's free services or "revdis" offered to residents.
The campaign will involve 65,000 meetings across Delhi, where district and booth-level AAP representatives will engage with voters. They plan to distribute pamphlets detailing the free services provided by the AAP government. These services include electricity, water, education, healthcare at mohalla clinics, free bus travel for women, a pilgrimage scheme for seniors, and a monthly Rs 1,000 assistance for women.

AAP's Election Strategy
Kejriwal questioned what the BJP has accomplished in Delhi over the past decade. He pointed out that despite being in power in 20 states, the BJP does not offer similar free services anywhere else. "The national capital is a half-state and the central government has as many powers as we do," he remarked. He accused the BJP of obstructing his government's initiatives.
Additionally, Kejriwal criticised Union Ministers Amit Shah and Hardeep Puri for making unfulfilled promises to the Purvanchali community during previous elections. He claimed they assured proper registrations for unauthorised colonies but failed to deliver even one in five years. In contrast, he stated that AAP has improved living conditions for Purvanchal residents.
Candidates and Political Dynamics
AAP has announced 11 candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Notable candidates include Brahma Singh Tanwar from Chhatarpur and Anil Jha from Kiradi. Deepak Singhla will contest in Vishwas Nagar while Sarita Singh is set for Rohtas Nagar. Other candidates include BB Tyagi in Laxmi Nagar and Ram Singh Netaji in Badarpur.
The candidate list features six individuals who have switched parties-three from BJP and three from Congress. This announcement follows Kailash Gahlot's recent defection from AAP to BJP. Gahlot was previously Delhi's Transport Minister and a senior leader within AAP until his switch was facilitated by Union Ministers ML Khattar and Harsh Malhotra.
Khattar described Gahlot's move as a significant moment leading up to February's election. The political landscape in Delhi is witnessing shifts as parties prepare their strategies for the upcoming polls.
The 'Revdi Par Charcha' campaign underscores AAP's focus on highlighting its welfare schemes while challenging opponents on their track records. As election day approaches, both parties are intensifying efforts to sway voters with promises and critiques of each other's governance.
