Delhi Assembly polls: AAP to pit Kejriwal against BJP's Jagdish Mukhi?

New Delhi, Nov 4:No sooner than it became clear that Delhi is headed for fresh polls, the Aam Admi Party on Tuesday declared that it will be a battle of supremacy between BJP and AAP. The party has even claimed Congress as an insignificant party in this poll and also announced that its convener Arvind Kejriwal will be pitted against BJP's veteran leader Jagdish Mukhi.

After Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung claimed that no party is ready to form government in the national capital, social media was abuzz on Monday evening with tweets from AAP that Kejriwal will be pitted against BJP's Jungpura MLA, Jagdish Mukhi, as he was the front runner in the race for chief minister's post, if BJP had tried to form a government in the capital state.

But, the BJP has downplayed AAP's claim by saying the party is not going to declare its CM candidate this time.

Earlier in the day, ending months of uncertainty, the Centre recommended dissolution of the Delhi Assembly with immediate effect after BJP, AAP and Congress expressed their inability to form a government. Assembly elections in the national capital are likely to be held early next year.

"The Union Cabinet recommended dissolution of the Delhi Assembly with immediate effect," a senior Union Minister said after the brief meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The decision came after the Cabinet considered Jung's report in which he had suggested dissolution of the year-old Assembly after his meeting with the BJP, AAP and Congress.
