Dadri lynching case: Meat in Akhlaq's house was 'mutton', not 'beef'
Lucknow, Oct 9: In a fresh twist, the forensic test conducted over the meat kept in Mohammed Akhlak's fridge has been confirmed as mutton. The UP police officials had taken the meat sample from his house to confirm whether it was beef or mutton.
50-year-old Mohammed Akhlaq was lynched by a mob in Dadri's Bishada village, on Sep 28, following rumours that he kept beef in his house. Mohammad Akhlaq's family had constantly maintained that there was no beef in the house.

The police initially sent the meat sample to a veterinary doctor for preliminary testing.

As per a TOI report, preliminary tests suggested it was mutton, but the police sent the sample to another lab in Mathura for a conclusive test. That report also confirmed it was mutton, a top government official said.
Also, the police in its FIR did not mention beef either.
While visiting Akhlaq's home last week, MIM leader and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi slammed the UP government and said instead of arresting the attackers, the cops were focusing on the forensic test.

Defending the action, a senior official in the UP government was quoted by TOI as saying, "Had we not sent the meat for a test, the opposition would have alleged that the UP government was hiding facts. Even though there is no mention of beef in the FIR, we had sent the meat for a test to clear the air."
Earlier on Thursday, breaking his silence over the incident, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav said stern action will be taken in the matter "even if we have to sacrifice the government", and claimed it was a "pre-planned" conspiracy hatched by "three persons of a specific party".
"The Dadri incident was a pre-planned conspiracy...you will come to know the names. According to the information I have gathered, three persons related to a specific party are behind the incident," Yadav told reporters in Lucknow.
50-year-old Akhlaq was bludgeoned to death by an angry mob over rumours of eating beef. Iqlakh's younger son Danish, 22, who was critically wounded in the attack and is undergoing treatment at a Noida hospital, has come out of the ICU and is able to communicate with the family.
