CSIR-NET Exam Cheating Scheme Unraveled in Meerut with Seven Arrests

Three individuals, including the IT manager of a private university in Meerut, have been detained for allegedly using remote access software to solve questions for candidates in the online CSIR-NET exam, according to police reports on Saturday. The Uttar Pradesh Police's Special Task Force (STF) also arrested four candidates in connection with the case.

CSIR-NET Exam Fraud: 7 Arrested

The arrests occurred on July 26 at the Subharti University exam centre. The exam, conducted by NSEIT, took place from July 25 to July 27. Those apprehended include Arun Sharma, the IT manager at Subharti University; Vineet Kumar, a computer lab assistant; and Ankur Saini, a server operator at NSEIT. All four candidates arrested are residents of Haryana.

Remote Access Software Misuse

Additional Superintendent of Police, STF-Meerut, Brijesh Kumar Singh, stated that the UP-STF had been receiving information about gangs hacking online recruitment exams and deploying solvers for candidates. On July 26, they learned that the IT manager had set up an unauthorised system in his room away from the lab and was using remote access software to solve exam questions.

The candidates had paid substantial sums to have their questions solved. Singh added that a team led by Inspector Sunil Kumar arrested the seven individuals from the exam centre. The arrests were made following a tip-off about the misuse of remote access software during the CSIR-NET exam held in Subharti University's law faculty computer lab.

Legal Actions and Charges

A case has been registered at Jaani police station in Meerut under various sections of the BNS, Uttar Pradesh Public Examinations Prevention of Unfair Means Act, and the IT Act. The STF's statement highlighted that this operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb cheating in online recruitment exams.

The STF's proactive measures aim to ensure fairness in competitive exams by cracking down on such fraudulent activities. This incident underscores the importance of maintaining integrity in examination processes and the lengths authorities will go to uphold it.

The investigation continues as authorities seek to uncover more details about the extent of this cheating network and any additional individuals involved.
