Congress Reacts To Court Notice To Rahul Gandhi Over His Caste Census Remark
Congress leader Udit Raj on Sunday reacted to Barelli Court's notice to Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi in relation to his comments over caste census. Udit Raj called the court's notice as frivolous. He criticised the judiciary, stating, "There is nothing to be discussed about this issue...This is a waste notice...The judges should be removed from their posts."
Udit Raj's comments reflect dissatisfaction with the legal proceedings.Rahul Gandhi made comments and demanded the 'caste census' and economic surveys duing the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. According to the notice, Rahul Gandhi needs to appear before the court on January 7.

The case has been filed by Pankaj Pathak, who expressed concerns about Gandhi's statements. "We felt that the statement made by Rahul Gandhi during the elections on caste census is like an attempt to start a civil war in the country...We had first filed a case against him in the MP-MLA court which was dismissed. After that we went to the District Judge Court, there our appeal was accepted and a notice was issued to Rahul Gandhi... The date of January 7 is given in the notice..."

Rahul Gandhi's proposal for 'Jitni Aabadi, Utna Haq' sparked debate during election campaigns. He advocated for conducting a caste census to determine population statistics of backward castes, SCs, STs, minorities, and others. This would be followed by financial and institutional surveys.
