Congress List Of Candidate For Lok Sabha: Names Of Bengal Candidates Finalised

In the Central Election Committee meeting held on Tuesday, the Congress has finalised the names of candidates for 12 Lok Sabha seats of West Bengal, ANI reported citing sources.

"Discussions took place for Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and West Bengal by the screening committee," Congress leader Jaivardhan Singh told the news agency. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge chaired the CEC meeting on Tuesday in New Delhi.

Congress List Of Candidate For Lok Sabha Names Of Bengal Candidates To Be Out Shortly

The Congress had earlier released two lists of candidates, containing a total of 82 names, for different states.

On the declaration of party's candidates for Lok Sabha elections 2024, party MP Manickam Tagore says, "4 hours of meeting has just concluded. Sonia Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge sat together with all state leaders, Chief Ministers and others. Congress party is well prepared and we are strategically announcing the candidates.

Congress party will fight the battle to win and INDIA Alliance is going to win 300 seats."The Congress has revealed its candidates for 82 Lok Sabha seats, with 39 names being announced in the first list and 43 in the second list.

In West Bengal, the voting for the Lok Sabha polls will be conducted in seven phases. It has to be noted that its INDIA bloc ally Trinamool Congress has already named candidates for all 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal. In the last Lok Sabha elections, TMC secured 22 seats, while the BJP made significant gains with 18 wins.

Both Lok Sabha and assembly elections in four states are scheduled from April 19 to June 1, with results expected on June 4.

After Tuesday's meeting Congress leader Bhanwar Jitendra Singh said, "Today's meeting regarding (selection of candidates) for Madhya Pradesh elections has been postponed and now it will be held on March 21 and discussion will take place..."

The names of the Congress' list of candidates for Karnataka will be announced tomorrow, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said.
