Class 10, 12 Board Exams To Be Held Twice A Year From 2025-2026: Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan

To reduce academic stress, the Ministry of Education has come up with a new idea. Under the New Education Policy (NEP 2020), Class 10 and 12 students would be allowed appear to for board examinations twice a year from the academic session 2025-2026. According to the reports, the twice-a-year board exams format will be implemented from the academic session 2025-2026.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the new board exams format during the inauguration of the PM SHRI (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) scheme in Chhattisgarh.

Addressing the event, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said "Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji's vision through the NEP is to keep students stress-free, enrich them with quality education, keep students linked with culture and prepare them for the future. This is the formula for making India a developed country by 2047."

The decision to conduct Class 10 and 12 board exams twice a year was taken according to the recommendations of the New Curriculum Framework (NCF) under the New Education Policy (NEP 2020) announced by the Ministry of Education last year. This will ensure that students get enough time to focus on other aspects of their careers and the opportunity to think about their future.

Board exams twice a year will also help students attain the best score that decides their career options.

About Prime Minister Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) Scheme

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan informed that under phase 1 of the PM SHRI (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) scheme, 211 schools in Chhattisgarh will be upgraded by spending ₹2 crore on each school. Pradhan added that with the idea Chhattisgarh will become a 'hub and spoke' model of India.

The PM Shri Scheme's objective is to establish 14,500 PM SHRI Schools that will give quality education to the upcoming generations. These schools will be overseen by the Central Government's Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS).
