Abhishek Bachchan Reflects On 26 Years In Bollywood: 'I Was Insecure About My Capabilities'

On the occasion of completing 26 years in Hindi cinema, Abhishek Bachchan reflected on a journey that has transformed him both professionally and personally. The actor, who made his debut alongside Kareena Kapoor in Refugee (2000), recently spoke about how experience has shaped his approach to acting.

"The only thing that's changed is I'm more comfortable. I think when I started out, there was a bit of discomfort. But now, I'm more comfortable being in front of the camera. When you're just being yourself and comfortable in your skin, that gives you clarity on decisions you need to take," he shared.

Abhishek Bachchan Has Clarity In Choosing His Projects

The actor explained that, over time, he gained clarity and developed a stronger sense of conviction about the projects he chooses. In the early years of his career, uncertainty often influenced his decisions. Unlike in those days, he now has a much clearer understanding of the kind of work he wants to pursue.

"I'm very clear today, or I would say in the last five to seven years, of what I don't want to do at that point of time. Initially in your career there's such excitement, there's such insecurity about kaam milega, nahin milega. Whatever comes your way you do," he added.

Abhishek also spoke candidly about the insecurities actors go through. He said that self-doubt is common in the profession, but he never found himself comparing his success with that of other actors.

"I'm clear at that point of time, at this point I don't want to do this. That means I definitely want to do this. So, there's a lot more conviction in that and that comes from a certain maturity and calmness. I think that helps in your work as well. We're not all over the place anymore, I'd like to believe. I've never been an insecure actor in terms of 'yeh kya kar raha hai.' Insecure about my capabilities, yes. I think all actors are... about, 'Will I be able to do this?'" he said.

Abhishek is currently filming King, the much-anticipated action thriller led by Shah Rukh Khan. The film also features Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi, and Rani Mukerji in pivotal roles.

The film is directed and co-written by Siddharth Anand, who previously delivered the blockbuster Pathaan. King is being filmed across multiple locations, including Mumbai, Warsaw, Gdańsk, and Cape Town. The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander and the duo Sachin-Jigar, while the film's background score is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
