CISF Refutes Doctor's Apple Watch Theft Claim At Delhi Airport
A social media post by Tushar Mehta, a Gurugram-based doctor, quickly gained traction after he claimed that his Apple Watch was stolen during a security check at Delhi's airport. According to Mehta, after the security check, he noticed his watch missing and suspected a man to be the thief. Following him to a nearby watch store, Mehta alleged that he confronted the thief and forcibly retrieved his watch from a salesman.

CISF Investigates and Denies the Allegations
After Mehta's post went viral, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) launched an investigation into the claims. The CISF reviewed CCTV footage from the airport, which contradicted Mehta's version of events. According to the footage, Mehta was seen wearing his Apple Watch after passing through security and proceeded smoothly to the boarding gate without any interactions with CISF personnel. The security force strongly denied any theft, citing that Mehta's account was fabricated.
CISF's Response to the Social Media Post
The CISF issued a statement urging passengers to avoid spreading unverified claims that could cause unnecessary panic. They emphasized that such allegations undermine public trust in airport security and create undue anxiety among fellow travelers. The security force also suggested that Mehta should have avoided making baseless accusations in the first place.
Doctor Deletes Post and Deactivates Social Media Account
Following the CISF's response, Mehta deleted his original post and deactivated his social media handle. The doctor had initially detailed how he felt his watch was missing and how he sought out the supposed thief. However, after the CISF's investigation, it became clear that no such theft took place at the airport.
The Importance of Accurate Information on Social Media
This incident highlights the growing responsibility of individuals to verify their claims before sharing them on public platforms. With the power of social media comes the potential to spread misinformation, which can cause widespread concern. The CISF's swift action in clearing up the confusion demonstrates the importance of a thorough investigation when accusations of theft or misconduct arise in public spaces.
