Chhoti Diwali 2024 Bank Timings: Will Banks Be Open Or Closed Today?
Chhoti Diwali, the day before Diwali, falls on October 30 this year.
If you plan to visit the bank today, it's important to know whether they will be open or closed.

Here's a quick guide to help you out.
Are Banks Open on Chhoti Diwali (October 30, 2024)?
While Diwali is a major holiday in India, Chhoti Diwali, also known as Narak Chaturdashi, is not a scheduled or official holiday for banks. Since the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has not declared it as a public holiday, banks will remain open today across all states. Both public and private banks will function normally on October 30, 2024.
Bank Closures for Diwali 2024
However, banks will be closed on either October 31 or November 1, depending on the state. Here's the breakdown:
- October 31 (Thursday): Banks in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal will remain closed for Diwali, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birthday, Narak Chaturdashi, or Kali Puja.
- November 1 (Friday): Banks will be closed in Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Sikkim, Tripura, and Uttarakhand due to Diwali, the Kut festival, or Kannada Rajyotsava.
Extended Bank Holidays in Some States
In certain states, Diwali celebrations continue through November 2. As a result, banks will also be closed on that day in states such as Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh due to Diwali, Lakshmi Puja, and Govardhan Puja.
