Brijmohan Agrawal registers highest victory margin in Chhattisgarh assembly elections
Senior BJP leader and former minister Brijmohan Agrawal registered the highest victory margin of 67,719 votes in the Chhattisgarh assembly after he defeated his nearest rival from Congress in Raipur City South constituency.
In a landslide victory, senior BJP leader and former minister Brijmohan Agrawal has emerged as the winner in the Raipur City South constituency of the Chhattisgarh assembly elections. Defeating his closest rival from Congress, Mahant Ramsundar Das, by a substantial margin of 67,719 votes, Agrawal has made history as the eighth-term MLA in the state, remaining unbeaten since 1990.

The Unbeaten Champion of Raipur City South
Agrawal's triumph can largely be attributed to his dedicated efforts in nurturing his constituency. By maintaining close contact with his voters and consistently offering assistance when needed, he has built a strong rapport that has propelled him to victory time and again. Political analysts have noted that the Congress party currently lacks a leader in the capital who possesses the same stature and influence as Agrawal.
OP Choudhary Kharsia and Vijay Sharma: Other Notable Victories
While Agrawal's win stands out with the highest victory margin, OP Choudhary Kharsia from the BJP has also made a significant mark by securing a margin of 64,443 votes. Additionally, BJP's Vijay Sharma has garnered the highest number of votes statewide, with a total of 1,44,257 votes. Sharma's victory came at the expense of senior Congress leader and minister Mohammad Akbar, whom he defeated by a margin of 39,592 votes in the Kawardha seat.
A Close Call in Kanker and a Narrow Loss for Singh Deo
In contrast, the Kanker seat witnessed a nail-biting finish, with BJP's Asharam Netam emerging victorious by a narrow margin of just 16 votes against Congress candidate Shankar Dhruwa. Netam secured 67,980 votes, while Dhruwa trailed closely with 67,964 votes. Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and Deputy Chief Minister Singh Deo suffered a narrow defeat in the Ambikapur seat by a mere 94 votes against BJP's Rajesh Agrawal. Singh Deo garnered 90,686 votes, falling short against Agrawal's 90,780 votes.
BJP's Resounding Victory in Chhattisgarh
The BJP has emerged as the clear victor in the Chhattisgarh polls, securing a commanding majority of 54 seats in the 90-member assembly. The ruling Congress has been reduced to 35 seats, while the Gondwana Gantantra Party managed to secure one seat. This resounding victory solidifies the BJP's position in the state and marks a significant shift in the political landscape.
The Chhattisgarh assembly elections have witnessed historic victories and narrow escapes, with the BJP emerging as the dominant force. Brijmohan Agrawal's record-breaking margin of victory in Raipur City South stands as a testament to his unwavering commitment to his constituency. As the state embarks on a new chapter, the BJP's decisive win will undoubtedly shape the future of Chhattisgarh.
