Chennai's Anna Salai road caves in again
About 10 feet long stretch of Anna Salai road caved in on Friday where underground metro construction was underway in Chennai. This is the third such incident on Anna Salai road.
Chennai Metro Rail MD says 'reason behind the incident can only be determined after examination', reports ANI.
In April 2017, a portion of the arterial Anna Salai in Chennai had caved in near the Thousand Lights mosque pulling down a bus and a car.
Thirty-five passengers were evacuated immediately from the bus (number 25G). The fire department later pulled the car and the bus out using cranes.
In the same year, a crater in the size of a manhole was developed on the same road. Underneath the road, Teynampet metro station is being built.
