CBSE Board Exams 2025: Check FAQs, Exam Tips And Patterns
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is gearing up for the 2025 board exams for classes 10 and 12, scheduled to begin on February 15, 2025. As the exam date approaches, students are busy with their preparations. Many have questions about key details like word limits and the inclusion of pre-board marks in final results. To assist students, a list of frequently asked questions has been compiled from the official CBSE website.
One common question is whether it's necessary to pass both theory and practical exams separately in Class 12. The board states that students must score at least 33% in each subject's external exam. For subjects with practical components, they need to achieve 33% in both theory and practical exams, as well as an overall aggregate of 33%.

CBSE Exam Procedures and Regulations
Students often wonder if they can take bathroom breaks during exams. The CBSE confirms that students are allowed to go to the washroom, but an invigilator will accompany them. Another frequent query is about using whitener or gel pens during exams. While whiteners are not permitted, students can use blue or royal blue ink gel pens.
Regarding pre-board marks, CBSE clarifies that these scores are not included in the final board examination results. Students also ask about improving their performance after passing Class 10 or Class 12. They can retake exams for one or more subjects in the following year if they wish to improve their scores.
Re-evaluation and Answer Book Access
Many students inquire about changes in marks after verification or re-evaluation processes. The board explains that marks may increase or decrease based on actual scores obtained during re-evaluation, and candidates must accept the revised results. Additionally, those interested in obtaining copies of their answer books can apply by paying a processing fee within a specified timeframe set by CBSE.
For those who fail their board exams, there is an option to reappear either as private candidates or regular students enrolled in schools. This provides another chance for students to clear their exams successfully.
Study Tips and Writing Speed Concerns
Students often seek advice on which chapters are crucial for scoring well. However, CBSE advises against selective studying. Instead, it recommends covering the entire syllabus thoroughly and understanding concepts to perform well in exams.
Some students worry about slow writing speeds affecting their ability to complete papers on time. To address this issue, it's suggested that they practice writing answers beforehand to improve speed. Organising ideas before writing answers and using bullet points can also help manage time effectively during exams.
The passing criteria for Class 12 require candidates to pass five external exam subjects according to the study scheme, along with internal subjects, to be declared successful.
