Budget 2017: NTS will ensure professional conduct of entrance exams
Nearly 40 lakh students would fall under the ambit of the NTS
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley while presenting the Union Budget announced on Wednesday that the government was proposing to set up the National Testing Service. This move is aimed at bringing about greater professionalism in conducting entrance examinations.
The announcement comes in the midst of different bodies such as the CBSE, IIT among others conducting entrance tests. The NTS once set up would assume the responsibility of conducting all these examinations. Nearly 40 lakh students would fall under the ambit of the NTS.
Jaitley also announced an outcome based accreditation of educational institutions. Quality education will energise youth, Jaitley said while quoting Vivekananda.
He announced that Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds programme, which are online courses. This will be linked to the 32 educational channels also announced in the Budget to help students prepare for exams.
