The emails warned that bombs had been placed under hospital beds and in bathrooms, and bizarrely claimed that "terrorists ching and cultist" were behind the supposed threat. In response, teams of police officials and bomb disposal squads were quickly dispatched to the affected hospitals to ensure safety and conduct thorough searches.

This incident follows a similar event in Gurugram, Haryana, where a bomb threat was received at Ambience Mall on the same day. However, no suspicious items were found during the search at the mall. Additionally, a prominent mall in Navi Mumbai's Vashi area was evacuated after receiving a bomb threat via email, which was later determined to be a hoax.

Authorities are investigating the source of these threats and are taking necessary precautions to safeguard public spaces. The recent spate of threats highlights the ongoing challenges in maintaining security and addressing potential threats in public areas.

Hoax Bomb Threats Raising Alarms

In May, around 250 schools in Delhi and the NCR received similar threats, leading to mass evacuations and frantic searches as worried parents rushed to collect their children. PCR vehicles were dispatched to the schools, and various agencies, including district police, BDS, MAC, Special Cell, Crime Control Room, DDMA, NDRF, Fire CATS, and others, were put on high alert. However, after thorough searches, authorities declared the threats a mass hoax as nothing suspicious was found.

The police revealed that the emails were sent using a virtual private network (VPN), which routed and rerouted data through foreign servers. In this instance, the sender used a Russian mailing service to send the email. In response to the threats, the Union Home Ministry emphasized the need to develop detailed protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for managing such situations. The ministry also highlighted the importance of enhancing security measures, such as installing CCTV cameras and regularly monitoring emails in schools.
