BJP's Vinod Tawde Sends 100 Cr Defamation Notice To Rahul Gandhi, Kharge Over "Misleading Cash For Vote Video"
Vinod Tawde, the Bharatiya Janata Party's General Secretary in Maharashtra has taken a firm stand against accusations of vote-buying, asserting his comprehensive understanding of the rules and dismissing any notion of engaging in such actions, particularly in a public setting like a hotel.
This comes after allegations surfaced claiming Tawde was involved in distributing five crore rupees to voters at a Mumbai hotel on the eve of the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Tawde has categorically denied these claims, emphasizing his respect for the electoral process and his refusal to partake in any misconduct that would undermine it.
In response to the accusations leveled against him, Tawde has issued a legal notice to prominent Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Supriya Shrinate, demanding a public apology for their attempts to tarnish his reputation and that of his party.
He expressed his dismay over the attempts to sully his image and that of the Bharatiya Janata Party, stating, "A day before the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate tried to defame me and our party. Congress leaders spread lies about me. They tried to defame a leader like me who comes from an ordinary family and our party. I was deliberately defamed, so today I have sent a legal notice to all those leaders. If they do not apologize publicly, I will take legal action."

Tawde's actions highlight his determination to clear his name and uphold the integrity of his party in the face of what he perceives as baseless allegations. By issuing a legal notice, he underscores his readiness to take further legal measures should the accused fail to publicly retract their statements and apologize. This legal tussle reflects the heated political atmosphere in Maharashtra, showcasing the intense rivalries and the high stakes involved in the state's electoral politics.
The unfolding saga of accusations and legal battles in Maharashtra's political landscape underscores the complexities of electoral politics in India, where allegations of vote-buying and character assassination attempts often surface, leading to legal and public relations battles. As this story continues to develop, it remains to be seen how the accused Congress leaders will respond to Tawde's demands for an apology and whether this legal confrontation will escalate further.
