BJP Targets Congress Over Alleged Bitcoin Scam Involving MVA Leaders
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has raised concerns over the involvement of two key leaders from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance in an alleged cryptocurrency fraud.
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra, in a press conference held in Delhi on Wednesday, linked the allegations to Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, claiming that the alleged misappropriation of funds had been carried out under their direction.

The controversy centers around accusations made by former IPS officer Ravindranath Patil, who has alleged that Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule and Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole were involved in a 2018 bitcoin fraud worth ₹5 crore. Patil, who spent 14 months in prison in connection with the case, claims to have access to voice recordings that implicate the two leaders.
According to Patil, one of the voice notes features Supriya Sule asking an alleged witness, Gaurav Mehta, to encash bitcoins for election purposes. Another voice note allegedly captures Patole discussing the delay in the bitcoin encashment with then Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta.
However, Sule has vehemently denied the allegations, accusing the BJP of indulging in "cheap politics." She has dismissed the claims as "conjecture and innuendo" and challenged the BJP to engage in a public debate on the matter. "I am ready for a debate with any representative of the BJP at a time and date of their choice," she wrote on X.
The BJP's statement has further intensified the ongoing political feud, with both sides continuing to trade accusations over the legitimacy of the bitcoin-related claims.
