BJP Policies Embody Dr BR Ambedkar's Ideologies, Anurag Thakur Affirms

Senior BJP MP Anurag Thakur stated that the party's policies align with Dr BR Ambedkar's ideologies. He emphasised that the Narendra Modi government is working to build the nation on the principles of the Indian Constitution's architect. Thakur criticised the Congress, asserting that the BJP aims to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) inspired by Ambedkar's beliefs.

Thakur explained that the UCC would ensure equality across communities by eliminating religion-specific laws on marriage, divorce, adoption, and inheritance. "UCC ensures equality for all the communities. UCC will end the religion-centric laws on marriage, divorce, adoption and inheritance rules and provide uniform laws for all," he said. His remarks were made during the BJP’s ‘Samvidhan Gaurav Abhiyan’ campaign celebrating 75 years of the Indian Constitution and honouring Ambedkar.

BJP's Criticism of Congress

The BJP leader accused Congress of amending the Constitution multiple times for political advantage. According to Thakur, Congress governments have altered it 75 times, while BJP and other non-Congress parties have done so 31 times. He alleged that Congress leaders from Pt Nehru to Indira Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi disrespected Ambedkar, who advocated for tribal, Dalit, and backward caste rights.

Thakur also accused Rahul Gandhi of misleading people under the guise of constitutional values. He claimed that Congress has consistently undermined Dr Ambedkar’s contributions and principles throughout its history. The BJP aims to counter these narratives by highlighting their commitment to Ambedkar’s vision.

Awareness Campaigns on Constitutional Values

Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal announced plans to organise seminars and intellectual gatherings at 50 locations. These events aim to raise public awareness about constitutional values and counter what they describe as Congress's propaganda against these principles. The BJP seeks to educate people on their interpretation of constitutional integrity.

The BJP’s initiatives are part of a broader effort to commemorate India's constitutional legacy while promoting their alignment with Ambedkar’s ideals. By focusing on these themes, they hope to strengthen public understanding and support for their policies.
