BJP and LJP Leaders Confirm Positive Discussions on Seat-Sharing for Bihar Assembly Elections

Emerging from Paswan's residence, Rai conveyed to the media that their smiles indicated a positive outcome. Paswan confirmed this sentiment, stating details would be shared later.

Rai later met with Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who oversees BJP's Bihar election strategy. They held a late-night meeting with Paswan to further discuss seat-sharing. Sources suggest Bihar BJP leaders might soon visit Delhi to finalise candidate selections ahead of the Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting. This meeting, involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior leaders, is expected within three to four days.

Bihar Assembly Elections and Political Dynamics

The Bihar assembly elections are set for November 6 and 11, spanning two phases across 243 seats. Rai is among several senior BJP figures negotiating with allies. Both Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi, another Dalit BJP ally and Union Minister, are seeking favourable terms concerning seat numbers and specific constituencies.

The LJPRV has summoned its senior Bihar leaders, including MPs, to Delhi for discussions on the upcoming elections. The Janata Dal United (JDU), led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, remains BJP's primary ally in Bihar. Besides Paswan and Manjhi, former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha is also part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance in the state.
