Congress Alarmed by BJP Leader's Purported Threat to Rahul Gandhi
The Congress on Wednesday shared a video of a BJP leader allegedly threatening Rahul Gandhi. They demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah address this serious issue. The video, shared by Congress's media head Pawan Khera, shows BJP leader Tarvinder Singh Marwah saying, "Rahul Gandhi, refrain from such things, otherwise in the coming time, you will also suffer the same fate as your grandmother."

Members of the Delhi BJP's Sikh cell protested near Gandhi's 10, Janpath residence. They demanded an apology from him over his remarks in the US about the Sikh community. The protesters, including women, carried placards and raised slogans but were stopped by police at a barricade near Vigyan Bhawan.
Protest Details
During the protest, BJP national spokesperson R P Singh accused Gandhi of insulting Sikhs with his statements. He claimed that under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, the Sikh community is progressing and feels safe in India. Singh also mentioned the 1984 anti-Sikh riots that occurred during Congress rule.
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate also shared the video and stated that BJP leader Marwah is openly threatening to kill the Leader of the Opposition. She insisted that BJP chief J P Nadda, Prime Minister Modi, and Home Minister Shah must not remain silent on this matter.
Congress Reaction
AICC secretary Pranav Jha called for Delhi Police to take notice of Marwah's statement. He reiterated that this is a very serious matter and questioned if Prime Minister Modi would remain silent on such threats from his party members.
The Congress also posted the video on its official X handle, highlighting the threat against Gandhi. They described it as a product of the BJP's "factory of hatred" and demanded action against Marwah.
BJP's Stand
Marwah, who is in charge of Delhi BJP's Sikh cell, said Gandhi should learn about his family's history and acknowledge the atrocities committed against Sikhs by his grandmother and father. He asserted that no other political party has wronged the Sikh community as much as Congress.
Addressing Indian Americans in Washington DC on Monday, Gandhi accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of considering some religions, languages, and communities inferior to others. He said India's fight is about these issues rather than politics.
Gandhi's Remarks
Gandhi asked a turbaned person in the audience if a Sikh would be allowed to wear his turban or kada in India or visit a gurdwara. He stressed that this fight concerns all religions, not just Sikhs.
Delhi BJP's Sikh cell convenor Charanjeet Singh Lovely criticised Gandhi's statement about Sikh turbans not being safe in India. He claimed that Congress has historically harmed Sikhs more than any other political party, citing the 1984 riots as an example.
The BJP protesters demanded an apology from Gandhi for allegedly humiliating Sikhs and held Congress responsible for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. They raised slogans against him during their demonstration.
This incident has sparked significant controversy and calls for accountability from both political parties. The Congress insists on immediate action against Marwah for his threatening remarks towards Rahul Gandhi.
