Bihar: Part Of Bakra River Bridge Crumbles In Araria | Watch Video
A portion of a bridge over the Bakra River in Araria, Bihar, collapsed on Tuesday before its scheduled inauguration. The bridge, built at a cost of Rs 12 crores, was washed away by the river.
Youth Congress National President Srinivas BV commented that the bridge, constructed under the double-engine government in Bihar, has now been washed away. Bihar has a troubling history of bridge collapses. On June 4, 2023, the Aguwani-Sultanganj Ganga bridge was collapsed in Bihar's Bhagalpur.

This under-construction bridge, with an estimated cost of Rs 1,717 crore, saw two parts collapse one after the other.
Notably, a portion of the same bridge had previously collapsed in April 2022 due to a storm. Fortunately, no casualties were reported this time.
Before this, in April 2022, at least 36 segments of this bridge had collapsed.
In December 2022, a portion of a bridge over the Burhi Gandak river in Begusarai collapsed due to developed cracks. Another incident in November 2022 saw a laborer die and another injured when an under-construction bridge in Nalanda district collapsed. Similar collapses have occurred in Kishanganj and Saharsa districts as well.
