Paper Leak Forces Cancellation of Bihar Constable Recruitment Examination
The CSBC has cancelled the Bihar constable recruitment exam held on October 1, following allegations of cheating and use of electronic devices by candidates at certain centres. The examinations scheduled on October 7 and 15 have also been postponed.
In a significant development from Patna, the Central Selection Board of Constables (CSBC) announced on October 3rd that they have cancelled the Bihar constable recruitment examination which was held on October 1st. This decision has been taken in light of evidence indicating a paper leak during the exam.

According to an official statement released by CSBC, several dishonest candidates were caught cheating during the examination. The board received complaints about various fraudulent methods being employed by candidates at certain centres, including the use of electronic devices for cheating. As such, these revelations led to an immediate postponement of the exam until further notice.
The individuals who were found involved in these malpractices were arrested immediately at their respective centres. The CSBC reported receiving numerous complaints regarding irregularities and misconduct during the course of this crucial examination. Such activities not only disrupted the smooth conduct of exams but also tainted its sanctity and fairness; hence leading to its eventual cancellation.
Subsequent Exams Postponed
The statement further added that due to these unfortunate circumstances, all examinations scheduled for October 7th and October 15th have also been postponed indefinitely until further notice is given by authorities.
Investigation Underway
Detailed reports suggest that some candidates had illegitimate access to exam answers through mobile devices and other illicit means. Many culprits were apprehended red-handed with handwritten answer sheets containing correct responses before completion of exams. To ensure justice and maintain integrity in future examinations, this matter is currently under investigation by Economic Offence Unit (EOU) under Bihar Police jurisdiction.
The EOU has so far registered as many as 67 FIRs across 21 districts related to this incident while arresting 148 persons allegedly involved in this large-scale fraudulence surrounding public-sector job examinations. With such large numbers of arrests and complaints, this incident has raised serious questions about the security measures in place during these examinations.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the recent cancellation of Bihar constable recruitment examination due to a paper leak is a severe blow to the credibility of public sector job examinations. It underscores an urgent need for stringent measures to curb malpractices and uphold the sanctity of these exams. This incident serves as a grim reminder that technological advancements can also be misused for unfair advantages if not properly regulated. The ongoing investigation by EOU aims to bring all culprits to justice, ensuring fair conduct in future CSBC examinations.
