Bihar CM Nitish Kumar To Join BJP again? Speculations Surface After JDU Delegation Meets Amit Shah

Everything is not good between the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA bloc). A day after Trinamool Congress (TCM) supremo Mamata Banerjee and Punjab CM Bhagwant Maan announced to go solo in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024, a delegation of Janata Dal-United (JDU) met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his Delhi residence. According to the reports, JDU leader Samrat Singh will meet Amit Shah and former Bihar Chief Minister Sushil Modi, which has sparked speculations that JDU may join the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) again.

Meanwhile, the reports suggested that Nitish Kumar will also not join Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra, which will enter the Hindi heartland state soon. As per the reports, Nitish Kumar declined the invitation to participate in Congress' yatra saying that he already has other official programs.

Nitish Kumar

The reports also added that Nitish Kumar is likely to share the stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his February 4 rally in Bettiah.

According to a report published by NDTV, Nitish Kumar may resign first and reform the government with the support of the BJP, and Jitan Ram Manjhi, in Bihar once again.

In the 243-member Bihar assembly, the majority mark is 122. The RJD holds 79 seats. Mr. Kumar has the potential to establish a government by combining the 82 seats of the BJP with the 45 seats of his Janata Dal-United. Lalu Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal currently possesses 79 seats.

Notably, Nitish Kumar lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday after the Government of India decided to give the Bharat Ratna Award to the late former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur, who was a big socialist leader.
