Big shocker for BJP: Goa CM Parsekar loses to Congress candidate
He lost to Congress candidate Dayanand Raghunath by 3,500 votes on Saturday
Bharatiya Janata party leader and Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar who was contesting from the Manderam constituency of north Goa, has lost to Congress candidate Dayanand Raghunath by 3,500 votes on Saturday.

Parsekar had assumed the office on November 8, 2014. took over as the Goa chief minister after Manohar Parrikar was appointed as defence minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi'c cabinet. This loss could mean the end of the road for him.
Apart from talk about Parrikar returning to Goa if the BJP wins, the Goa CM faced competition from his own colleagues, including Deputy Chief Minister Francis D'Souza.
The counting of votes is underway in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Manipur along with Goa.
