Bengaluru Demolition Drive: Heat builds up on Manyata Tech Park
Bengaluru, Aug 24: The heat is building up against Manyata Tech Park as Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has intensified the verifications regarding a possible encroachment on storm-water drain by the latter.
On Aug 18, OneIndia had reported that the city's prominent tech park was under the BBMP scanner and the civic body would carry out a survey to check encroachment on Raja Kaluves.

Speaking to OneIndia, Joint Commissioner of the Yelahanka Zone Sarfaraz Khan said, "I have written to Joint Director, Land Records Department to provide the marking or the alignment of the proportion of encroachment. We have conducted a survey at Manyata Tech Park and once we receive a finalised marking from the Land Records section, we will proceed with the demolition."
He said the markings provided by the Land Records department and survey results of BBMP should match. Responding to the letter communication, the officials in the Land Records Department are actively working to accumulate the revenue maps of the tech park and are studying it, Khan added.
Khan suspected that there could be an encroachment and said he would not fear to raze the encroachments as park belonged to some big names in the city.
Last year, the BBMP had demolished a bridge inside the tech park that had been built on a storm-water drain. The tech park had even diverted the water channel to facilitate the expansion of the park.
