Stones pelted at Yediyurappa’s house: Prohibitory orders imposed
The house of BJP leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister, B S Yediyurappa has been attacked at his home town in Shikaripur, Shivamogga.
The members of the Banjara community who are protesting the issue relating to reservation pelted stones his house. The police were pressed into service to disperse the mob.

The Banjara community has been asking for internal reservation in the Schedule Tribe Community. The community was protesting the state government's decision to recommend the Centre to implement the A J Sadashiva Panel Commission's report on internal reservation among the SCs.
The protest turned violent in Shikaripur, when the police resorted to caning the agitators after they hurled stones at the residence of the former chief minister.
Superintendent of Police, G Mithun Kuman visited the house and took stock of the situation. The protesters burnt posters with images of Yediyurappa and Chief Minister, Basavaraj Bommai.
Following the incident, prohibitory orders have been imposed to prevent untoward incidents and restore peace.
The Banjara urged the government to drop the Justice SA J Sadashiva report recommending proportional represetaioc to the sub-castes among the Schedule Castes.
They termed this decision as unscientific. They also said that this is a ploy by vested interests to divide the Schedule Caste communities that were living together peacefully all these years. They said that the move by the government will mete out injustice to the Banjaras and the the recommendation must be withdrawn with immediate effect.
Reacting to the development, Karnataka Congress chief, D K Shivakumar said that the BJP is trying to divide all communities and is playing politics.
