Ayodhya Bypass Project Route Map, Cost And More About 68-km Corridor Under PM Gati Shakti
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced the Ayodhya bypass project, a strategic initiative designed to enhance connectivity, logistical efficiency, and regional development. Encompassing 67.57 kilometers in Uttar Pradesh, the project is part of the PM GatiShakti initiative and aims to streamline freight flows and alleviate congestion in Ayodhya.
The Network Planning Group (NPG), led by PM GatiShakti, has held 64 meetings over two years, focusing on the holistic socio-economic development of over 131 infrastructure projects. The Ayodhya Bypass Project emerged as a critical infrastructure undertaking during the 52nd NPG meeting.

Ayodhya Bypass Project:
The project spans 67.57 kilometers, incorporating the construction of the 4/6 Lane Northern Ayodhya Bypass (35.40 km) and 4/6 Lane Southern Ayodhya Bypass (32.172 km). This greenfield project traverses key districts like Lucknow, Basti, and Gonda, enhancing connectivity to economic, social, and logistics nodes across the region.
Ayodhya, strategically positioned between Lucknow and Gorakhpur, serves as a vital link for major commodities. The bypass aims to facilitate uninterrupted freight flows, ease congestion, and ensure smooth transportation of goods.
Anticipating increased passenger and freight vehicle movement, the Ayodhya Bypass will serve around eight influence areas, reducing travel time to critical national highways such as NH-27, NH-330A, NH-330, and NH-135A.
The project integrates with existing infrastructure, including Railway Stations and Ayodhya Airport, adopting a multi-modal approach to streamline the movement of people and goods, fostering economic development.
The Ayodhya Bypass complements other proposed projects like the Prayagraj - Raibareili Project, Gorakhpur-Siliguri Corridor, and Gorakhpur-Bareilly Corridor, creating synergies for comprehensive development.
Beyond its cultural and historical importance, Ayodhya significantly contributes to the development and connectivity of surrounding areas. Recent developments, including the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport and redeveloped Ayodhya Dham Junction Railway Station, further enhance connectivity and regional economic development.
