Arunachal Pradesh Elections Underway: Ensuring Peaceful Polling Under Tight Security
Today marks the commencement of voting for two Lok Sabha seats and 50 assembly constituencies in Arunachal Pradesh. Polling stations opened their doors at 7 AM and will remain accessible until 6 PM, adhering to the directives of the Election Commission of India.
Despite challenges posed by Naga insurgents in certain districts, Arunachal Pradesh's Chief Electoral Officer, Pawan Kumar Sain, has assured the public of stringent measures to safeguard the electoral process. Following recent incidents including the abduction of a BJP leader, Sain reiterated the commitment to thwart any interference from clandestine groups.

Security concerns have prompted heightened vigilance, with 480 polling stations situated in sensitive areas. An additional 588 stations are categorized as critical, and 443 as vulnerable. To mitigate risks, 87 inter-state checkpoints are actively monitoring potential threats.
To uphold the integrity of the electoral process, extensive security arrangements have been implemented. This includes the deployment of 70 companies of central armed police forces (CAPF) alongside personnel from the India Reserve Battalion and state police.
With the state's focus firmly set on ensuring peaceful voting, citizens are encouraged to exercise their democratic rights without fear. Vote counting is slated for June 4, with results expected on the same day.
