Amit Shah Slams Uddhav For Aligning With Congress, Insulting Thackeray & Savarkar

In a scathing attack, Union Minister Amit Shah criticized Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray for aligning with Congress, accusing the party of disrespecting the legacy of iconic leaders such as Balasaheb Thackeray and Veer Savarkar.

Shah's remarks came as he released the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) manifesto, 'Sankalp Patra,' ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections scheduled for November 20.

Speaking at the manifesto launch, Shah questioned Uddhav Thackeray's alliance with Congress, a party he claimed had consistently insulted the contributions of Balasaheb Thackeray and Savarkar. He challenged Uddhav Thackeray to ask Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to publicly praise Savarkar, emphasizing that Congress had failed to recognize the legacies of these freedom fighters. Shah's comments raised a broader concern about whether the people of Maharashtra would support policies that he argued could lead to religious-based reservations, something he said violated the Constitution.

"I want to ask Uddhav Thackeray if he can get Rahul Gandhi to say just two good words for Veer Savarkar," Shah remarked, reiterating his criticism of Congress for undermining the principles laid out by Maharashtra's legendary leaders.

Shah continued to attack the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), accusing them of making poll promises that he claimed insulted the state's ideologies. He accused the opposition of promoting appeasement politics and questioned their commitment to fulfilling their promises. In contrast, Shah highlighted BJP's unwavering commitment to its resolutions, promising that both the state and central governments under the BJP would honor their pledges to the people.

The BJP's manifesto, 'Sankalp Patra,' according to Shah, reflects the aspirations of Maharashtra's people, emphasizing the state's historical significance in the Bhakti movement, the freedom struggle, and social revolution. He presented BJP's vision as one of progress that adheres to the core values of Maharashtra, contrasting it with the opposition's ideology, which he characterized as divisive and self-serving.

Shah also targeted Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar, demanding that he account for his contributions to Maharashtra during his tenure as a minister in the UPA government. Shah's remarks underscored the BJP's efforts to position itself as the party of real change, poised to lead Maharashtra into a new era of development.

With the Maharashtra assembly polls fast approaching, the BJP is seeking to form a government that it says truly reflects the aspirations of the people of Maharashtra. Election results will be announced on November 23, but for now, the political battle lines have been drawn with rhetoric, promises, and accusations. The BJP's campaign under Shah's leadership continues to focus on legacy, ideology, and governance, while the opposition remains firm in its critiques.
