Amit Shah Slams Mamata Banerjee For 'State-Sponsored Infiltration,' Vows BJP Victory In 2026 Bengal Elections

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her government of promoting "state-sponsored infiltration."

Speaking at the launch of the BJP's membership drive in Kolkata, Shah declared that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form the government in the state in 2026, promising to end infiltration and curb illegal activities, as reported by ANI.

Shah, alongside BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty, addressed party workers and supporters, criticizing other political parties for indulging in dynasty politics. "If we look at most political parties today, they operate on the basis of caste or family ties," Shah said. "The BJP is different, with both our National President and Prime Minister rising from humble beginnings, without any political legacy."

Attack on Mamata Banerjee's Governance

Shah made a direct appeal to the people of Bengal, urging them to oust Mamata Banerjee in the 2026 elections. He blamed her government for facilitating illegal infiltration across the border and asserted that only a BJP-led government could put an end to it, as per ANI reports.

"In Bengal, the issue of state-sponsored infiltration is rampant. To free this border state from the grip of communists and Mamata Didi, the BJP must come to power in 2026. We will combat cow and coal smuggling, and for this, we aim to enroll one crore BJP members in West Bengal," Shah stated.

Focus on Law and Order

Shah also took the opportunity to criticize the state government's handling of law and order, specifically referencing incidents like the RG Kar rape-murder case. "The dignity of mothers and sisters is being violated in Bengal. Such incidents will only stop if the BJP forms the government in 2026. We are confident of securing a two-thirds majority in the state," he declared.

Jibe at Rahul Gandhi

Shah did not miss the chance to target Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, mocking him for underestimating the BJP's performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He referred to Rahul Gandhi as "Rahul Baba" and ridiculed the INDIA alliance, which includes Mamata Banerjee. Shah highlighted the BJP's success in recent elections across several states, including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Haryana, as per ANI reports.

"Rahul Baba was daydreaming after the Lok Sabha results, claiming victory, even though BJP won seats in several key states. I want to remind him that those who lose the election sit in opposition, while those who win take the oath as Prime Minister," Shah remarked.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, although the BJP fell short of the majority mark, the Congress showed a significant improvement, securing 99 seats. However, Shah pointed out that even when combining Congress's seat tally from the 2014, 2019, and 2024 elections, it was still less than BJP's 240 seats in 2024, as per media reports.

As the political atmosphere heats up in West Bengal, Shah's strong statements reflect the BJP's intent to challenge Mamata Banerjee's long-standing rule and secure a decisive victory in the 2026 state elections.
