Ahead of Delhi polls, former Uttar Pradesh DGP joins BJP
Lucknow, Jan 21: Former Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Brijlal on Wednesday joined BJP in presence of party state in-charge Om Mathur and senior party officials.
This comes close on the heels of former IPS officer Kiran Bedi joining the party.

"Brijlal is joining the BJP and will start his political innings. During his tenure as IPS, he never compromised with criminal elements and dealt with them with iron hands. He wanted to work under leadership of Narendra Modi," BJP state president Laxmikant Bajpai told reporters.

Brijlal, a 1977 batch officer who retired from services in November last, was removed from the post of DGP after Akhilesh Yadav became chief minister on March 15, 2012.
He was considered close to BSP supremo Mayawati. Another retired IPS officer Gyan Singh and former MLA Rajendra Singh also joined the party during a function at state BJP headquarters. With these officials and a former MLA joining BJP, the party would be strengthened, Om Mathur said.
